Litigation-General Liability
The Litigation General Liability Group deals with all areas of injury and damages, including but not limited to physical injuries, emotional and psychiatric injuries and other losses arising from these areas. We focus on routine auto torts, trucking accidents, premises liability claims, including slip and falls and intentional tort claims, and toxic tort litigation.
Construction - Insurance Defense
Our construction lawyers are experienced in handling all matters arising out of a construction project, so defending and insured under an insurance policy is a typical part of our attorneys´ practice. Admiralty/Maritime
Our admiralty and maritime law group handles matters related to commercial and recreational vessels, including vessel arrests and attachments, commercial disputes relating to charters, contracts, preferred mortgage foreclosures, maritime claims in bankruptcy, collision, products liability, personal injury and death claims, and cargo and property damage claims.
Labor/Employment
We represent management in labor and employment cases, including but not limited to wage and hour laws, wage payment laws, employment discrimination matters, wrongful discharge litigation, preparation of personnel policies and procedures and employee handbooks, preparation of substance abuse policies and testing policies, and other areas of employment discrimination in Federal and State courts and before administrative agencies.
Workers´ Compensation
Our attorneys are experienced in Maryland´s Workers´ Compensation system, appearing before the Workers´ Compensation Commission and handling claims appealed from the Commission. The firm also has an extensive FELA defense practice in both State and Federal courts.
Insurance Coverage
Interpreting insurance policies and rendering opinions on coverage, a carrier´s duty to defend or indemnify, and deciding other insurance contract related issues requires attorneys experienced in the insured´s particular field of expertise. Extensive experience in a wide range of practice areas is the basis for selecting WC&S attorneys to perform coverage opinions or to challenge denials of insurance coverage. Our attorneys are also very well versed in defending bad faith litigation, and monitoring claims. The firm has a broad based practice area in policy interpretation on behalf of carriers and also works with excess carriers, as many of our clients are self-insured companies with large self-insured retentions.
